Dhoni will be with his regiment for the next two months

Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has called himself “unavailable” for the West Indies tour of India on Saturday. He will not be available in the forthcoming series with the team.

Dhoni is an honorary Lieutenant Colonel in Parachute Regiment of Paramilitary Force. According to a top BCCI official, it has come to know that Dhoni will be with his regiment for the next two months and will give his services to the army.

A top BCCI official told PTI that Dhoni has said that he is unavailable for the West Indies tour because he wants to spend two months with his paramilitary regiment. The official also clarified that Dhoni is not retiring from cricket at this time.

He said, “We are saying in clear words that Dhoni is not taking his retirement from cricket. He is taking two months’ rest for the service of his paramilitary regiment, which he has been doing before.
